TL;DR
Got a new order of NOS transistors in (silicon and germanium)! Let's check out and display the range of gain and voltage/leakage measurements to see how worthy they might be.
Transistors
I got the following transistor(s) in, all silicon can's of various types and one germanium set:
- 2N2270
- 2N2102
- 2N1742
- 2N3641
I've personally never used these at all; I just chose an eclectic range of low to medium gain variety at glance and stuck with mostly NPN's to try in some upcoming pedal build(s).
The vendor I get these from is highly reliable, very reasonable to barter and all the transistors have all been NOS (e.g. not unsoldered or used pulls).
I've only had one DOA in hundreds I've bought so far. Sadly, however, nothing is tested or measured, so it's can feel like a little bit of a gamble. However, I've built some killer sounding pedals, so the gambling has been quite good in my favor.
