McPherson Green Gizmo™ with modifications!

TL; DR

The McPherson Green Gizmo™ is great, without question or complaint.

However, at the end of the day, I'm just a Carling-like stomp switch monkey. Although I dug the toggle-switch "interface" design and on/off indicator idea, it's far easier for me to A/B "re-voicing" selections with a foot tap vs. having this sit pedal on my lap. Plus, it's a low barrier to also have an LED indicator, too.

The Build

A few (minor) preferential changes I did:

  • Removed the DPDT switch, reused the drill hole for an LED and LED housing
  • Added a 3PDT 'soft-click' stomp switch for ON/OFF; very "effortless" low-impact to tap on/off for A/B'ing the "re-voicing" selection over playing
  • Vinyl decal in the a dodecagon star shape to match the 12-position rotary (~2") so I have a cushy, visual reference

Parts & Sourcing

I sourced my audio components from:

My part(s) list below if you want to replicate the changes:

Design, Soldering & Layout

Lets get into it, already! This was pretty easy to "surgery" to incorporate the 3PDT, LED + bezel and battery holder.

Decal Addition

My wife lent me her Cricut and vinyl to make the decal I was looking. She has way more experience working with and applying vinyl, so I'm leveraging that!

Ensure that:

  • For my pedal, the rotary is 12-position, so naturally it "feels" like clock positions. Make sure you decal placement "aligns" with your rotary alignment. My 12'o clock is the the LED (formerly the toggle switch) and my 6'o clock is the 3PDT stomp switch, centered.

The Pedal

There it is with my minor, optical/interface preferential changes! I really like the decal; at 1.90", those "star tips" are super subtle
