The 2n5210 NPN NOS Transistor in!

TL;DR

Got an order of NOS 2n5210 NPN silicon transistors in! Let's check out and display the range of gain and voltage/leakage measurements to see how worthy they might be for drop-in replacement(s) for some upcoming pedal builds!

Transistors

I got the following transistor(s) in, all silicon TO-92 (29-42 style):

  • 2N5210

Researching what little I can do on radiomuseum.com, the 2n5210 fits the bill, relationally for a BC184. I was surprised, actually, when measuring them, the wide range of HFE they had for the singular model.

I'm willing alot of sonic faith at them to use in an upcoming Fulltone Mas Malo build; as Mike Fuller advertised using NOS BC184C's.

I also noticed from guitarpedalx.com, they also can be suitable replacement for a post-1969 Big Muff circuit; but being clear that what was originally used was Fairchild production transistor(s), and not directly what I've obtained (as it looks like Fairchild does still product a modern 2n5210).

I'm quite confident the 2n5210's I've obtained are NOS Solitron Devices transistor(s); it took a fair bit of digging around on the relic side the the "internets" to find as many manufacturer logos I could, then started doing some comparison. Albeit, what must be their old logo, not their current one.
